Summary/Abstract: The dialogue between man and culture and within culture, like the dialogue between theology and culture, changes depending on the worldview in which it is undertaken. The dialogue of the Church Fathers, like that of medieval philosophers, took place within the worldview described by Ptolemy. This worldview constituted the intellectual context for their spiritual life. They introduced the Good News of human salvation in a world understood statically, and salvation in an individual way. With the Enlightenment, the worldview changes, giving rise to hope for transformation and improvement through the development of science and technology. A new, contemporary world of faith in man and his creative potential is born with a new will to life. Pope Francis called this process of transformation of thought a change of era. He encouraged dialogue with the contemporary world, a process already undertaken by the Church during the Second Vatican Council. At that time, some philosophers and historians of ideas also pointed out that only a proper reading of the Good News of Jesus Christ in the spirit of Tradition could ensure, through a wise dialogue between theology and culture, that the continuity of spiritual life, whose Source is the person of Jesus Christ, would not be interrupted.
