Summary/Abstract: The considerations undertaken in the text concern a few selected issues of multi - and intercultural education in the perspective of both the political changes initiated in Poland in 1989 and the integration with the European Union in later years. In the context of, among other things, the analysis of education for national minorities in Poland, the author of the study emphasizes that in the discourse on multicultural education, a critical look at the specific paradigm of this education is needed. This education has and will continue to have supporters and implementers in educational practice. In contrast to multicultural education, intercultural education is most conducive to getting to know and understand Others, and consequently to the formation of positive relations among people. Intercultural education promoted in Poland is based on numerous foreign experiences focused on mutual understanding of people of different cultures, on dialogue, learning about the history and cultural achievements of Others.
