Summary/Abstract: Public safety has become a key aspect in recent years in determining the development of a stable state. Many countries around the world have recently been facing socio-economic challenges and among the factors influencing social phenomena related to crime were the COVID-19 pandemic and the deepening economic crisis. The primary aim of this study is to present the spatial differentiation of criminal and economic offences recorded by the police across the counties of the Silesian Voivodeship between 2019 and 2022 with this article focusing on selected aspects of crime within the Silesian region. A spatial approach to the subject has allowed for the observation of changes in the pattern of offences across individual counties in the voivodeship. Compared to 2019, subsequent years recorded an increase in the number of offences and a shift in their type. It is noteworthy that there was a significant rise in the number of economic crimes. Changes to the type of crime are attributed, among other factors, to the restrictions introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
