Summary/Abstract: In this article, we will highlight the metamorphoses experienced by Daphne and Apollo in four mythological fables from the Golden Age based on Ovid’s myth. We will use a corpus consisting of Gregorio Silvestre’s Fábula de Dafnes y Apolo, Jacinto Polo de Medina’s Fábula burlesca de Apolo y Dafne, Francisco de Quevedo’s Fábula de Dafne y Apolo, and the Count of Villamediana’s Fábula de Apolo y Dafne. The purpose of this myth is to explain the creation of the laurel. However, one of the key elements to this story is the mutual pursuit of two figures that triggers internal metamorphoses that can be found in poetic productions about the myth and that we will study. Therefore, the first part aims to be a presentation of Ovid’s myth, as well as a presentation of the Golden Age tradition related to the figures of Daphne and Apollo. The second part sets out the definition of an Apollonian metamorphosis, finally giving way to a third and last part dedicated to Daphne and her apotheosis.
