Summary/Abstract: This study analyses the experimental film essay Frem (2019) by the Slovak documentary filmmaker Viera Čákanyová from the perspective of its eco-dystopian narrative and discusses the cinematic and narrative tools used in it to convey the testimony on climate change in the Antarctic environment. The film is segmented into a solastalgic prologue, foregrounding humans through both content and narrator, and a posthumanist observation of the ice field, which, conversely, effaces humans and alienates them from this space. The second part of the study focuses on techniques that evoke video-game aesthetics and contribute to the virtualisation of the documentary space, inducing anxiety and disorientation in the viewer.
