Summary/Abstract: This study examines the operatic works of the Slovak composer Ľubica Čekovská (b. 1975), whose operas Dorian Gray (2013), Impresario Dotcom (2020), and Here I Am, Orlando (2024) transcend traditional national operatic frameworks and respond to global cultural and social challenges. The authors explore the relationship between the literary sources and the libretti, dramaturgical strategies, and musical language. They pay particular attention to the composer’s innovative treatment of themes such as identity, digital culture, and gender fluidity. The study employs comparative analysis of the literary sources and the libretti, in conjunction with musical analysis. The empirical corpus consists of published reviews, scores, and audio recordings of performances. The authors conclude that, through her eclectic musical idiom and dense intertextuality, Čekovská revitalises the operatic genre and contributes to the internationalisation of the Slovak musical scene in the twenty-first century.
