Summary/Abstract: The Catholic Church is one of the most widespread religious organisations in the world and is also the leading entity running numerous non-state schools, both lower and higher, in which tens of millions of students are educated. The activity of its schooling was standardized by the Church from 1967 to 2022 by documents of the Congregation for Catholic Education. According to the Second Vatican Council agreements, Catholic schools are to take into account the socio-cultural changes taking place and to modify their activities accordingly. Today's world is multicultural and the issue of intercultural dialogue is becoming increasingly important, also in education. This fact should be reflected in congregational acts. Although the category of culture was used over and over again in congregational acts, the issue of intercultural education was not taken up until 2002 and was given more attention in 2013. Currently, Catholic schools fall under the newly created Dicastery of Culture and Education, which confirms the Catholic Church's understanding of the categories used in the name of the institution as close. This article traces the notion of culture in congregational texts and reconstructs the emerging vision of school education under conditions of cultural diversity and subjects it to a pedagogical analysis.
