Summary/Abstract: The article concerns the changes currently taking place in public theatres in Poland. They primarily concern changes in the conditions for producing and reproducing art, and therefore in the ways of managing theatres and creating better working conditions. This involves moving away from the director-director model of theatre, with the empowerment of employees and the socialization of theatre as an institution. Trade unions, increasingly established by workers who are active and aware of their rights, play a major role in these changes.
