Summary/Abstract: The main topic of the presented study is upbringing in multi-religiousfamilies as a thread rooted in intercultural education and constantly relevantdue to the constant and growing diversity and social mobility. This article distin-guishes two main thematic areas. The first describes the case of families in whichpartners come from the Christian and Muslim religions. The second discussesthe functioning of Christian-Jewish families. Based on the results of the literaturesearch, we answer to the following questions: What are the strategies of choosingreligion by a bireligious family?; What are the potential and the family challengesin the context of religious upbringing? It is particularly important for the authors to present the issue of upbringingin multi-religious families from two perspectivee – as an element building andstrengthening the development of its members, as well as equipping them witha specific capital contributed to society and as a potential challenge and sourceof family conflicts. There is not much research in this field in Polish pedagogy, but it is possible to identify a dominant research topic related to the educationalstrategies chosen by each partner and the scope of negotiating compromises andtransformations in the practice of religious rites. The presented work is of a reviewnature, introducing subsequent considerations covering the issue of functioningof religiously and denominationally heterogeneous families.
