Summary/Abstract: Intensified development of modern technologies supporting technological, communications and, above all, transportation industries has resulted in increased social and geographical mobility. The implication of this change is the need to redefine the existing ways of communicating and establishing relationships between members of different cultural groups, which translates into growing interest in the issue of intercultural competence, analysed both in the field of academic, political or social discourse. The results of the author's our own research were presented in this article, of which the main purpose was to answer the question: whether and which intercultural competencies are considered important in the theory and practice of a tourist-traveller? The analysis was based on the consciousness level of people who practice certain type of tourism (caravanning), which allowed to compare self-assessment of people coming from various parts of the world. A qualitative method was used to carry out theses research, and targeted free-form interviews was applied to collect data.
