Summary/Abstract: The authors of this paper address the issue of police warning as an alternative (diversion) measure for juveniles. The paper provides a general overview of police warnings and a historical review of the origin and development of this diversion measure for juveniles. A comparative legal analysis is presented regarding the use of police warnings in European Union countries and regional countries, alongside a comparison between the legal framework in Bosnia and Herzegovina and other legal systems that recognize this measure for juveniles. The paper also presents the results of research conducted in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton on the application of police warnings during the period from 2014 to the end of 2024, representing ten years of implementing this diversion measure, with special emphasis on the types of criminal offenses committed by juveniles to whom this measure is applied.
