Summary/Abstract: The Romanian-language press in contemporary Hungary has focused its attention since its inception on traditional folklore values and the need for research in this field. The content of Libertatea Noastră magazine was in line with the aim of the organisation that published it, the Cultural Union of Romanians in Hungary, which had set itself the goal since its foundation in 1948 to improve the cultural life of the Romanian population, to organise folklore ensembles, dance teams, choirs, to support the organisation of cultural tours among Romanians in the villages. Romanian folklore values have always had a prominent place in the pages of the Romanian gazette (with titles that have changed over the years: Libertatea Noastră, Foaia Noastră, Noi, Foaia românească). The present work will bring to the fore two prominent intellectuals of the Romanian community, who have been prominent names for decades in the editorial staff of the Romanian magazine from Gyula, especially during the period of Foaia Noastră. Lucia Borza and Alexandru Hoțopan became attracted to researching Romanian folklore, collected and edited books of Romanian folk tales, fairy tales, proverbs, riddles and folk cries. In fact, the two of them, together with professor and folklorist Samuel Domokos from Budapest, are considered to be the best known researchers of Romanian folklore in Hungary.
