Summary/Abstract: In a period when digitalization is becoming increasingly present in everyday life, modern solutions are being sought globally to facilitate the interaction of citizens with public institutions or courts of law. The Covid-19 pandemic has also led states worldwide to reorient their public policies regarding the implementation of digitalized services in almost all areas. A particularly important aspect that many states have not considered is the redefinition of the legal framework for the digital identification of individuals. This step is crucial, especially when discussing the implementation of electronic domicile, an innovative concept that can redefine how individuals can be identified and officially communicate with authorities. The identification of persons plays a particularly important role in social relations, especially in the context of digital reforms to be implemented in most developed countries. Therefore, along with name, personal numerical code, civil status, and electronic signature, domicile represents the most important identification element of a person, an element included in the sphere of their private life. In essence, every European citizen is guaranteed the right to freely choose their domicile, and the new Civil Code of Romania recognizes every individual's right to domicile or residence. Although traditionally the concepts of domicile or residence are legally linked to a person's primary or secondary dwelling, the concept of electronic domicile requires a distinct approach, needing an appropriate legal framework.
