Summary/Abstract: The right to vote of Romanian citizens represents a fundamental pillar of democracy and is enshrined in the provisions of Article 36 of the Constitution of Romania [1], [2]. According to this article, any Romanian citizen who has reached the age of 18 by election day enjoys the right to participate in the electoral process, both as a voter and as a candidate [1], [2]. However, the exercise of this right is restricted in the case of individuals who, by a final court decision, have been placed under interdiction due to serious mental disorders affecting their discernment capacity. In a democratic society, the right to vote holds paramount importance, as it enables the direct involvement of citizens in political life and in the process of designating public authorities that represent their interests [3].
