Summary/Abstract: The present study is dedicated to the musician Liviu Dănceanu, a complex and multifaceted personality, a master of both the art of sound and the art of words, who would have turned 70 this year had he not left this world seven years ago. His name is associated with a vast body of creations—both musical and musicological—united by his enduring passion for knowledge, manifested in various fields such as music history, hermeneutics, and epistemology. One of his major creations may also be considered the “Archaeus” Contemporary Music Workshop, founded in 1985, which stands among the longest‑standing ensembles in the country. The study focuses on one of Liviu Dănceanu’s early works, belonging to the Quasi cycle, which occupies a significant place in the composer’s oeuvre. This is the score of Quasiconcerto Op. 12 for clarinet or saxophone and orchestra, representative both for this group of works (Quasi) and for the composer’s youthful style. The focus on a work composed 41 years ago aims to demonstrate the existence of stylistic features that define the composer’s artistic personality and that can be found, in various forms, throughout his later creations.
