Summary/Abstract: The subject of the article is an analysis of Mexico's long-term systemic problems on the way to its democratization in the 20th and 21st centuries. It aims to identify the key factors contributing to discrepancies between legal guarantees of democracy and their actual implementation in the country. Moreover, the article addresses whether Mexico can be classified as a flawed democracy and whether the outcome of this year's elections could pave the way for its eventual transformation into a consolidated democracy.
