WATER MILLS AND WINDMILLS IN VILNIUS PROVINCE IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE EIGHTEENTH CENTURY

Summary/Abstract: The subject of this article is the network of mills in the Vilnius Voivodeship at the end of the eighteenth century. The primary sources used are illustrations made by order of the Treasury Commission of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, as well as inventories of individual starosties or estates, together with descriptions of parishes. On this basis, a typology of mills is presented, along with their spatial distribution and the annual revenues generated from taxation.
