Summary/Abstract: Despite the fact that it has been eight decades since the World War II ended, the history of numerous prison camps has still not been sufficiently uncovered. One of such places is Oflag XII A Hadamar, where primarily Polish officers were residing. They were put in one of the two sub-camps (Berglager and Stadtlager) organised there practically since the beginning of the World War II. Over time, all of the prisoners of Hadamar were accommodated in the former of the mentioned places, which resulted in the living conditions becoming more difficult. The description of the standards of accommodation is one of the numerous issues regarding the everyday life in the camp, which were shown in the text. It also presented, among others, the history of organisation of Oflag, ethnic and social cross-section of the prisoners placed there, cultural and educational activities, mental and physical health, and escape attempts. There is very little literature on the subject of the existence of this camp and it is usually limited to the basic information about the period of its functioning and the number of prisoners. Therefore, what helped with the reenactment of history of this place were the archival sources and the materials from the Municipal Museum in Hadamar, and to some extent also the local publications of German historians.
