Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to demonstrate the usefulness of eco-nomic growth accounting methodologies, in particular of the KLEMS productivity accounts, in examining certain changes on the labour mar-ket that affect the pace of economic growth, using data on the Polish economy as an example. A special feature of these accounts is, among other things, the possibility of examining the impact of labour qual-ity on changes in the pace of economic growth – such an examination will be presented in this article for the period 2005–2020. The article contributes to the literature by analysing the dynamics of labour qual-ity over time and its role in mitigating adverse demographic trends. Before conducting the study, premises for undertaking it were pro-vided, followed by the theoretical concept of the study and the meth-odology of KLEMS productivity accounts as applied to the study of the impact of labour quality on the pace of growth. Next, the results of the calculations were presented and commented on. The study has shown that the increase in labour quality played a significant role in compensating for the decline in the importance of the labour fac-tor in economic growth understood as aggregate GVA increase. In the article it has been indicated that this type of analysis can also be car-ried out in the spatial dimension thanks to the availability of KLEMS data for the Polish voivodshipsThe aim of this article is to demonstrate the usefulness of eco-nomic growth accounting methodologies, in particular of the KLEMS productivity accounts, in examining certain changes on the labour mar-ket that affect the pace of economic growth, using data on the Polish economy as an example.
