Summary/Abstract: Eugeniusz Bodo is today one of the main symbols of the culture of the interwar period in Poland. An outstanding actor and singer. Unfortunately, during the war he was arrested in the Soviet Union and accused of espionage. He died in one of the gulags. For many years his fate was a taboo subject. In the early years, little was written about him. This changed with the perception of the authorities of the Second Republic. At the time, the greatest interest in the actor in the People's Republic was in the decade of Edward Gierek - it was then that retro fashion came to Poland. However, the cause of the actor's death was not given, references to it were inaccurate. Usually his tragic death or murder by the Germans was mentioned. The 1990s were devoted to establishing the actor's fate. This was not easy due to the large number of mutually exclusive accounts. They were partially established at the end of the last decade of the 20th century. In 2000, the Polish side managed to obtain Eugeniusz Bodo's court records, including interrogations. The peak of the actor's popularity was in 2016, when a feature series depicting his life premiered.
