Summary/Abstract: Growing trend of improvement of relations between Yugoslavia and USSR during 1961–1962 was furthered in the following two years in all the fields of cooperation. In the years of Nikita Khrushchev’s leadership, cooperation between the two parties was established, which was of immense importance for relations between the communist countries. Ideological differences deriving from the Yugoslav model of socialism, emphasized in the 1957-1960 period of strained relations, were now marginalized, and their occasional appearance did not bring in question overall improvement of relations. The differences were settled on the issue of participation of LCY at the international consultations o the communist parties, which were initiated by the Soviet leadership in the course of its fight against the activity of the Communist Party of China in the international communist movement. The improvement of relations was significantly fostered through establishment of good personal relations of the leaders of two countries – Josip Broz Tito and Nikita Khrushchev, who met three times in less than two years. For Yugoslav side it was of outmost importance that the declaration from the mid 1950s concerning the relations between USSR and Yugoslavia is confirmed on the principle of equality and recognition of differences in its model of socialism and independence in international relations. This circumstance has influenced the increase of trust of the Yugoslav leadership in the Khrushchev’s policy, expressed both in political communication with the Soviets, as well as in the positive coverage and reception of Khrushchev’s personality in the Yugoslav public.
