Summary/Abstract: The article examines the theoretical discourse of the more-than-human, outlining the development of this theoretical approach across philosophy, anthropology, and visual art. Through discourse analysis the study identifies shared theoretical premises and reveals their connections to artistic practice. Drawing on interpretive methodology and observations of the art field, the article demonstrates how theoretical discourse unfolds in cultural communication and artistic practice, activating interactions between science and art and initiating transformations in knowledge and imagination. The “more-than-human” theoretical inclination and aesthetics highlight human coexistence with other living organisms, bringing indigenous animistic worldviews to the forefront and opening up post-anthropocentric perspectives. This has encouraged curatorial and artistic practices to reflect on the relationships between human and non-human spaces, explore non-human ways of thinking and sensing, and examine the connections between social and natural infrastructures. Visual artists emphasize mythological cosmologies, legends, and tales in which humanity intertwines with animal and plant life, thus blurring the boundaries between human “culture” and non-human “nature.”
