Summary/Abstract: This article examines the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Elizabeth in Lithuania during the Soviet occupation and subsequent restoration of independence. The historical facts and names are of great important, as is the pastoral and missionary work carried out by the sisters. Due to the scarcity of surviving sources, the section on the Soviet era is more fragmentary. Alongside the historical narrative, the article touches upon how God’s work enabled the sisters to endure times of trial. The congregation in Lithuania survived the difficult years of persecution under Soviet rule, and in independent Lithuania they actively engaged in charitable and social activities, particularly working with young people, preparing them for the sacraments and providing religious education. This study makes a modest contribution to the history of monastic life in Lithuania.
