Summary/Abstract: The article constitutes a polemic with Zbigniew Sawiński’s paper “The Mission:‘Survey Data Harmonization in the Social Sciences’ and the Need for a New Paradigmin Comparative Research” (published in Studia Socjologiczne, 2024, no. 4) and presentsempirical evidence that there is currently no crisis in research based on internationalsurvey studies. The authors draw on the well-documented history of such research. Fromthe very outset of comparative survey research, scholars have identified problems thatremain salient and continue to require empirical investigation. As face-to-face surveyresearch becomes increasingly costly, the shift toward new techniques of data collection isunderstandable. These techniques, however, necessitate further empirical studies to assessthe quality and validity of the data obtained. In conclusion, it is argued that the proposeddirections of research fall within the framework of the development of “normal science”in a post-Kuhnian sense.
