Pigeon Support Activities Resulting from Social and Interspecies Interactions

Summary/Abstract: The inclusion of feral, homing, and fancy pigeons remains an often overlooked aspectof animal welfare efforts. This article aims to present volunteers’ aid activities for pigeons,arising from both social and interspecies interactions. The theoretical framework of thestudy is provided by symbolic interactionism and sociology of interspecies relations.The research was conducted using a qualitative methodology, drawing on the conceptof subworlds. The findings highlight not only the primary research objective but alsothe broader contexts of interspecies interactions, in which gestures, shared meaningfulsymbols, and participants’ definitions of the situation play a central role.
