Summary/Abstract: Generative AI (G(AI)) is changing many jobs, including the legal profession. Unlike older tools like legal databases or document templates, G(AI) can write, research, and predict outcomes in ways we have not seen before. This essay looks at how G(AI) will change how law firms make money, affect jobs for lawyers, and give clients new tools to help themselves. Some people think G(AI) is just another tool to make work faster, but it could also change how lawyers and clients work together and improve access to legal help.
