Summary/Abstract: The article analyses Christological motifs in the poetry of Marta Reszczyńska-Stypińska, emphasizing their role in the consideration of suffering and expectation. Reszczyńska-Stypińska's work, permeated with Christian symbolism, shows suffering as a spiritual process in which expectation of salvation becomes the central motif. The author introduces the figure of Christ not only as the savior, but also as the symbol of a suffering human being, especially in the context of post-war trauma. Combining religious, historical, and existential elements, the poems Legenda o Chrystusiku frasobliwym (The Legend of the Sorrowful Christ) and Maria i Marta (Maria and Martha) address the theme of Christology in the context of national and individual experiences of suffering. In her poetry, Reszczyńska-Stypińska connects the tradition of national messianism to the universal question of the meaning of suffering, which places her work in the broader context of post-traumatic literature. The article also explores the ways in which suffering in her poetry assumes a mystical and eschatological character, leading to reflections on the spiritual role of suffering as a form of waiting for the ultimate liberation.
