Summary/Abstract: In this paper the authors point to the indisputable fact that artificial intelligence is currently experiencing rapid development, but also that there are two opposites. On the one hand, its application brings numerous advantages, and on the other hand, there is a danger that artificial intelligence will turn into its opposite. Namely, its uncontrolled application can lead to violations of human rights, which is why ethical management and the existence of a legal framework are necessary when using it. Also, many jobs that have always been performed by humans will be automated in the very near future. This will inevitably lead to the loss of many jobs. In addition, the positions of the Vatican, which has declared “war on artificial intelligence”, are also very interesting. The newly elected Pope Leo XIV claims that it is trying to replace God himself. Along with enormous benefits and undoubted advantages, artificial intelligence can lead to a strengthening of the already great polarization, both between modern states in the world and between individuals. It will certainly make the rich even richer and the poor even poorer. The European Union has been making great efforts in recent years to develop legal regulations on artificial intelligence, primarily to respect the right to privacy. Therefore, the European Commission and the European Parliament have been very active in forming appropriate bodies and expert groups and adopting the necessary documents (resolutions, strategies, plans, etc.) which regulate the use of artificial intelligence. With all this in mind, in 2023 the Republic of Serbia adopted the Ethical guidelines for the development, application and use of reliable and responsible artificial intelligence. The Government of the Republic of Serbia also adopted the latest Strategy for its development for the period from 2025 to 2030, which sets the foundations for the further development of the legal framework, which should enable the creation of solutions to numerous ethical issues. Therefore, the legal and ethical aspects of the application of artificial intelligence are of key importance, as they provide guidelines for its further development and reliable application in the future.
