Summary/Abstract: This article constitutes a preliminary presentation of a forthcoming monograph, provisionally titled Maythe Forest Forever Whisper for Him... The Linguistic Form of Obituaries Dedicated to Individuals Associated with Hunting. To date, no comprehensive linguistic analysis has been conducted on obituaries published in professional periodicals, including those focused on hunting. The paper outlines the research methodology applied in the analysis of over two thousand obituary texts and defines the scope of the investigation. The study will explore genre variants and structural components typical of obituaries, along with their linguistic features and stylistic markers. It also aims to characterize the specific nature of these texts within the context of hunting-related publications. The analysis seeks to determine the extent to which the the matic profile of the magazine, the deceased’s affiliation with the hunting community, and the identity of the message sender shape the linguistic form of obituaries. A key research question is whether a “classic” hunting obituary – distinctin both form and content – can be identified.
