Summary/Abstract: In the paper we refer to two aspects regarding housing in the European Union, namely some considerations related to their taxation, as well as the issue of their affordability. In this sense, we use the indicator "usage cost of housing (UCOH)", analyzed by the European Commission, the statistical data coming from the House taxation database, for the year 2023, as well as the cost of housing (expressed as a share of the population's disposable income) and the issue of housing affordability, the methodology used being descriptive and empirical, by calling on bibliographical references from international specialized literature, as well as statistical data for the Member States of the European Union, for the years 2022/2023 (depending on the availability of data) provided by the European Commission (Data on Taxation Trends, based on Eurostat data, Housing Taxation Database 1995-2023 v6.0).
