Summary/Abstract: The insurance sector is undergoing profound transformations driven by changing legal regulations, technological progress, and the evolving needs and expectations of customers. Among the areas where insurers are adopting modern technological solutions to improve customer service is the development of digital distribution channels. The widespread of these channels is linked to access to information and communication technologies and to the appropriate level of customers’ digital skills, which enable effec- tive and secure use of innovative insurance services. In the European Union countries, the level of these resources varies significantly, resulting in differing intensities of digitalization within the European in- surance sector across individual countries. The aim of this article is to conduct a comparative analysis and classification (clustering) of European Union countries based on selected determinants of purchas- ing insurance through digital channels: access to and use of digital technologies, and the digital skills of residents. The study employed a two-stage cluster analysis.
