Summary/Abstract: Given that literature exerts a great influence on the public, it constitutes a motive for accent shifts and for the introduction and standardization of grammatical norms that are difficult to perceive and deliverable to speakers by other means. The direct influence of literature on the acquisition of a neat language, to be kept by the speaker, stems from the undeniable reality that the writer addresses, after all, the national language, from whose material the particular expression, proper to writing, is established, following the model of proper and improper divisors in mathematics. In some cases, these linguistic particularities generalize and we witness a fluid process of migration into the category of norms or defining characteristics for an artistic trend or for an era. Since it is an examination of the way in which language acquires multiple functions, the observation of language phenomena in Alecsandri's theater must be put at the service of a broad study, which aims at the language of the heroes as a tool for portraying avatars with diverse ages and intellectual pretensions. As V. Arvinte points out, the stakes of these researches are justified by offering an objective triptych of the 19th-century Romanian language, made up of the elements used by Alecsandri throughout his work: the norms of the literary language, the ordinary language and the language mutilated in the absence of culture.
