Summary/Abstract: The present paper proposes an analysis of Arghezi’s poetry for children. Tudor Arghezi, one of the most valuable writers of the interwar period, devoted particular attention to the miniature universe. The poet captures this microcosm in a series of playful writings, both poetry and prose, that convey teachings and life lessons. Events full of meaning, exemplary and sometimes dramatic, ethical attitudes and principles, the desire to explore and understand the surrounding world, the comprehension and protection of small creatures, civic spirit, and the promotion of life models, all framed by a jovial atmosphere and a playful spirit, are reflected in luminous, rhythmical verses, often humorous, at times tinged with sadness. Thus, childhood attains a privileged place in Arghezi’s lyricism, being perceived as a distinct reality endowed with its own themes and new forms of artistic expression. In modern Romanian literature, genuine interest has been devoted to poetry for children, childhood representing an authentic and inexhaustible source of inspiration. Poetry that illustrates issues specific to early childhood naturally becomes a concern for many writers who have demonstrated their talent also through the attention they grant to the child and to childhood. Contributing to the formation of a veritable literature of childhood, their works constitute reference texts from both thematic and aesthetic perspectives.
