Summary/Abstract: The contemporary Romanian tends toward a simplification of the morphological structures. Although the written norm remains conservative, colloquial usage pushes the boundaries, embracing shorter, more expressive, and less rigid forms. Our study aims to emphasize the fact that the word categorized as an adjective, functions as a barometer of orality, being one of the parts of speech that abdicates rigid norms of written language in favor of expressiveness and economy of effort in daily communication. We can observe how the adjective, a flexible part of speech, becomes an indicator of linguistic evolution beyond rigorous grammatical rules. This highlights the clear discrepancy between the general norm (what we ˮmust” write according to DOOM 3) and what represents usage (how we actually express ourselves on the street, in informal settings or on social media).
