From Analog to Digital. The Development Timeline of the Cluj Territorial Studio of Romanian Television – 35 Years in Numbers

Summary/Abstract: The present study reconstructs the period in which regional public television in Cluj was represented by an outside broadcast van serving the party, followed by the post-revolutionary initiative through which, with a VHS camera and the support of the engineers from that van, the Cluj Territorial Studio of the Romanian Radio Television was established. The technological evolution of this studio, between 1990 and 2025, can be summarized through the succession of video formats –U-matic, VHS, S-VHS, Beta, DV, and digital – which have shaped its institutional trajectory. This developmental timeline will be presented in the following section.
