Summary/Abstract: The Archbishop of Constantinople Saint Gregory the Theologian, the God‑bearer in speech, was born in Arianz (Asia Minor, in present‑day Turkey), not far from Nazianzus (from which he also received the name Saint Gregory of Nazianzus), around the year 329. His parents, Gregory and Nonna, were people upright and righteous before God. His father received the Mystery of Baptism rather late, from Saint Leontius, bishop of Caesarea in Cappadocia, and later he was chosen as bishop of the vacant see in the city of Nazianzus.
