Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the linguistic characteristics of the book Bidayatul-inas by Sejfulah Proho. It presents a complex mosaic of linguistic features that characterize the Bosnian language at the beginning of the 20th century. Simultaneously, it aligns with the linguistic characteristics of the Aljamiado literary koine and the linguistic expression of ilmihal as a distinct genre within the corpus of Aljamiado literature. Its language is determined by various factors: the educational background of the author, the purpose of the text, the nature of textbook literature, which combines technical terminology with a straightforward method of explaining and presenting facts, and the author’s attempts to approach the literary language as well as the language of the readers themselves. The linguistic features demonstrate a merging of Aljamiado and Western European literary-linguistic traditions, with a significant presence of dialectal characteristics and words of Oriental origin.
