Summary/Abstract: The arrival and settlement of Jews in Travnik is one of the lesser-known topics in historiography. Existing accounts are scarce, fragmented, and insufficient for drawing more reliable conclusions. Therefore, this paper aims to assess the reliability of these accounts, particularly in the light of new perspectives derived from primary sources. These new findings are based on a mid-19th-century register listing the Jews of Travnik by name. Through the analysis of this register, several questions are addressed, including the population size of the Jewish community expressed in family units, their demographic potential, their spatial distribution within Travnik, and the nature of their existence or economic activities. The obtained results will be compared with previously known findings in historiographical literature, which will also serve to assess the reliability of earlier results.
