Summary/Abstract: The women-led society and community is an old and often disputed issue among historians. Biblical scholars enchanted by this topic usually examine the Hebrew “his/her mother’s house” phrase here. Generally, four loci are examined: Gen 38:11; Songs 3:4; 8:2 and the book of Ruth. The rare occurrence itself shows the sporadic importance, nevertheless it is worth to note a much more informative story from the Bible, the rebellion of Sheba ben Bichri in 2Sam 20. The rebellious leader turns against David and finally escapes to the north and takes refuge in the city of Abel Beth Maacah. This article argues that the female protagonist of the story is actually the leader of the city. The writing examines the story from philological and archaeological aspects, emphasising the leading role of this woman and the city.
