Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes Petru Groza’s government through the lens of Soviet documents and Russian historiography. It traces how the image of the Romanian prime minister and his executive was constructed, assessed, and reinterpreted by political officials and academic representatives in Moscow. The contribution discusses first the idea of archival regimes framed by the opening of post-Soviet archives and, second, the paradigm shift that took place in Russian historiography after 1991. Documents published as a result of Romanian-Russian editorial collaborations and Soviet memoir literature, in particular the memoirs of N.S. Khrushchev, are examined as complementary in order to capture the interpersonal climate of the Soviet elite. I.Z. Susaikov’s informative note to V.M. Molotov dated December 4, 1945 takes a central role in this study. The document discussed the political situation in Romania, revealing Moscow's perception of Petru Groza’s attitude, his personal environment, and his daily life as indicators of political stability. By corroborating the archival documents with memoirs as well as Russian historiographical reevaluations, the article proposes an integrated reading of Groza's government. The latter is situated at the intersection between Romanian domestic politics and Soviet monitoring and coordination mechanisms during the formation of the Eastern European bloc.
