Summary/Abstract: The work under discussion consists of five parts: “Foreword,” “The First and Second Immersion,” “Paradoxical and Aporetic,” “Ontology and Metaphysics,” and “In Lieu of a Conclusion.” Considered as a whole, it is the result of a “second immersion,” second not so much in the sense of following the first immersion chronologically, but in the sense that it is the outcome of a long‑standing reflection—spanning more than six decades—on Greek philosophy, its purposes, and especially on the way we understand it and transmit it further: do we approach it in an event‑based, sequential, and narrative manner, or do we think it in its longue durée, integrating historical succession into a comprehensive program that accounts for the different ways in which Greek philosophers, from Thales to Plato and Aristotle, conceived the foundation of the world considered as a whole?
