Summary/Abstract: What is this book about? It is about the Romanian language, about “the greatest act of justice the people have done for themselves” (Grigore Vieru), about a way of being of the Romanian word in the writing of Bessarabian history: the affirmation of the status of Romanian as the official language of the Republic of Moldova, the change in the linguistic attitude of the authorities in Bessarabia, the transition to the Latin script, and so on. It is a book about “a slow return to the sources”; the “painful,” I would say, title of the first study included in this collection is: “The road back home now seems longer to me” (Vasile Alecsandri) (pp. 11–141).
