Summary/Abstract: Metaphysics and transcendence are, says Nae Ionescu, in synonymous relationships. Behind these concepts, however, another one is configured, which the Romanian metaphysician sees as the quintessence of the problem of metaphysics, namely, being. But not simply being, but being that reflects, from the human perspective, a need for balance with existence in general. This is the true problem of metaphysics that, from a human point of view, cannot be viewed (only) as a problem of thought (although it is, consequently, logical, generated in and by thought). It is a problem of man who lives, knows and assumes the destiny of a community.
