Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the controversy between Saint Gregory Palamas and Gregory Akindinos, as representatives of two ways of doing theology: the hesychast model and the antipalamite model. The first is characterized by the practical, living, experienced dimension of theology. The second is based on a theoretical, static, strictly intellectual approach to theological texts. The dispute manifests itself both dogmatically and methodologically and can be expressed as a tension existing between the perspectives of the uncreated or created nature of divine energies. The purpose of the paper is to emphasize the accents of this polemic, with importance for clarifying the relations between theology and philosophy in the historical development of the two fields.
