Summary/Abstract: This article offers a preliminary exploration of the potential of conceptual idealism to provide a theoretical and methodological foundation for the metacognitive dimension of philosophical practice. By reinterpreting key positions of Collingwood, Rescher, and Hofweber, and by emphasizing the underacknowledged Hegelian influence alongside the Kantian legacy, the paper argues that conceptual idealism can foster epistemic self-regulation, conceptual flexibility, and reflexivity. These capacities are essential for practices such as philosophical counselling, Socratic dialogue, and philosophy for children, where thinking about thinking becomes both method and goal.
