Summary/Abstract: We know increasingly more about the period Noica spent in Germany in the early 1940s, when he served as a philosophy referent at the Romanian Institute in Berlin. The discovery of two articles he published in German journals during this time now helps complete the picture and correct some earlier views. The first article bears the title “Ende einer Welt” [“The End of a World”] and appeared in the Zeitschrift für deutsche Geisteswissenschaft, a journal in which other Romanian authors also published; it is a German version—with additions and modifications—of the article “Intelligentia quae non intelligit, or the Spiritual Death of Our Time through the Primacy of the Auxiliary,” which had appeared in Adsum, the journal published by Noica in a single issue, written almost entirely by him.
