Summary/Abstract: The positive balance of foreign trade in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia during the implementation of what was, up to that point, the most comprehensive economic reform in this field, intended, among other things, to enable a greater integration of the country into the international division of labour, was one of the most important factors of economic and political stability. This article examines Yugoslavia’s foreign trade relations with Italy and the Federal Republic of Germany in the period from 1967 to 1968. These two countries were Yugoslavia’s most significant trading partners within the European Community in the structure of its overall exports during the analyzed period. Based on unpublished archival material and relevant historiographical literature, this paper seeks to show the impact that economic relations with these countries had on Yugoslavia’s overall economic activity.
