Summary/Abstract: The relatively abundant information on credit trade in Ragusa has resulted in multiple approaches to understanding the place and role of merchants in medieval Bosnia. The approach of Desanka Kovačević-Kojić, as the backbone of current knowledge, has been both confirmed and, in some respects, misunderstood. The aim of this paper is to reaffirm existing approaches through the lens of merchants from Foča and to present the overall findings in a way that creates a more functional basis for further research. The conducted research shows that, within credit trade, Foča was the most dominant center in eastern Bosnia and, after Drijeva and Srebrenica, held primacy over other settlements in Bosnia (Prača, Goražde, Višegrad, Borač, Visoko, Olovo, Ustikolina, Tjentište, Kreševo, Cernica, Trebinje).
