Summary/Abstract: This article analyzes Eminescu’s prose, almost unanimously regarded as Romantic and defined as a form of ,,prose-poetry,” characterized by musicality, suggestiveness, fragmentariness, and the interplay between the lyrical and the narrative. In the spirit of the great Romantics (Goethe, Novalis, Hoffmann) and of the Cervantine model, it capitalizes on rhythm, repetition, symmetry, and a ,,magical” language capable of expressing masses of feelings emerging from the unconscious. Eminescu’s texts frequently combine prose with verse, philosophical meditation with fantastic narrative, constructing a pantheistic vision of the universe as musical harmony and succession of forms. Motifs such as music, the aria, the tear, the migration of the soul, or identity are developed through a rhythmic mode of writing, with oral inflections and dramatic accents, akin to ,,writing aloud”. Overall, Eminescu’s prose stands out for its musical expressiveness, metaphysical depth, and its tendency to transform narrative into a total poetic experience.
