Summary/Abstract: Self-defence strategies are crucial in protecting oneself in threatening situations, where the use of force should be proportional and focused on ensuring personal safety without causing unnecessary harm. Martial arts not only teach physical skills but also emphasise the moral responsibility of individuals to use these techniques with restraint and wisdom. Avoiding physical confrontation is often the most effective approach, as the consequences of engaging in violence can be severe, both legally and psychologically. Techniques such as using surroundings for defence, targeting an attacker's weak points, and making well-thought-out decisions during a confrontation can significantly improve self-defence outcomes. This paper discusses key self-defence principles, including the importance of self-restraint, the effective use of physical techniques like punches, kicks and strikes to sensitive areas, and staying calm while under pressure. By understanding and practising these strategies, individuals can protect themselves while maintaining their integrity and minimising the impact of violence.
